The end of May is traditionally the weekend of “Open Wineries”.
“Cantine Aperte” is the traditional event during which people can visit wineries all over Italy and taste wines while learning about the history and technical aspect of their production. In Umbria 48 wineries will be open to the public on Saturday the 30th and Sunday the 31st. A preview of the event will be happening in Perugia on the 28th: several stores and bars in the center are going to host the wineries for a presentation of the upcoming weekend.
Every year several wineries (12 in Umbria, se the List for reservations and contacts) organise the “Dinner with the Winegrower” on Saturday evening. This year though, on Saturday it will also be possible to participate to several lectures about interesting subjects, in 5 different locations: Castelbuono in Bevagna will host a lecture about landscape and architecture at 10 am; the Torgiano Museum of Oil and Wine will host a lesson about wine tourism at 4 pm; in the Winery Scacciadiavoli in Montefalco there will be a meeting about history and wine at 4:30 pm; in the Winery Zanchi in Amelia the lesson will be about technical elements of wine making at 4:30 pm; finally in the Goretti Winery in Pila at 5 pm the subject will be food and wellbeing.
