So it seems by looking at the Umbrian October Festivals in the Upper Tiber Valley. You can’t say Perugia without thinking of the Perugina and its famous “Baci”. No wonder why Eurochocolate takes place every year in Perugia, starting on the 16th of October and ending on the 25th. Visitors can find chocolate producers from all over the world, taste and buy all kind of chocolate or witness competitions as well as literary events.

altrocioccolato città' di castelloAt the same time, from the 16th to the 18th of October, in Città di Castello there will be “Altrocioccolato”, an event aimed to promote fair trade and values like justice, transparency and respect of human rights.

 

Mostra mercato nazionale del tartufo e della patata bianca pietralunga mostra tartufo bianco citta di castelloFor the truffle lovers, two events are big in the Upper Tiber Valley, first in Pietralunga, then in Città di Castello. The first Truffle Exhibition Market Pietralunga in Pietralunga goes on for two weekends, from the 9th of October until the 18th. It presents local truffles as well as the local white potatoes in a special recipes of “gnocchi with truffles”. A part from the stands and the tasting there will be a truffle dogs competition on Sunday the 11th. At the end of October, from the 30th until the 1st of November, the traditional White Truffle Exhibition will be held in Città di Castello.

If you are visiting the Upper Tiber Valley on the 25th of October, don’t miss the “Chestnuts Sagra” in Morra. You’ll find all kind of local delicacies made with chestnuts and it could be an occasion to visit the San Crescentino Oratorio from the 1420, a small jewel containing some frescoes from Luca Signorelli.
